Trustly is a fast, secure, and global payment method that enhances payment performance and experience for over 8,300 merchants across 33 markets, connecting them to 650+ million consumers through 12,000 banks.
In the fall and winter of 2023/2024, we developed Trustly’s new digital design system. This system empowers their team to design at scale, ensuring a cohesive and consistent visual language. Instead of repeatedly building basic elements, designers now leverage pre-built, universal components—allowing more time to focus on refining the products itself.
In essence, the system is a collection of reusable elements, guided by clear standards, that can be assembled to create various digital applications efficiently. We established guidelines for grids, spacing, typography, and colors. The color palette was expanded and optimized for digital, introducing new values and theming. Additionally, we built a UI library with essential components and a custom icon set featuring over 200 icons.
To demonstrate its versatility, we applied the design system across their key digital products and created visionary concepts to be used internally as guiding stars for up-coming updates.
